Tree care

Urban Forestry, Ornamental treeOur services are intended to private owners.

Are your trees sick? Are your trees covered with insects? Have you detected lignivorous fungi on the trunk or at the tree collar? Do you need advices for your veteran trees?

More and more often, tree owners are becoming aware of poor management practices on their trees and long-term costs! The exagerated costs occur not only from planting and watering but also from excessive and often unnecessary pruning.

We do trees diagnosis that allows us to assess the plant health status, the good development and the growth of a tree and care advice.

A care is not a ‘ pruning ‘!

This euphemism aims to diminish the notion of often traumatic ‘ pruning ‘ inflicted on trees. Inappropriate pruning condemns or drastically reduces the life of a tree. ‘Soft pruning’ does not guarantee the ‘ right way of  pruning a tree’ in relation to the constraints imposed on the tree or for security reasons. Some inappropriate pruning condemn or drastically reduce the life of a tree. Any steps taken to care for a tree should be done based on an understanding of the physiology and biology of the tree.

What about trees pruning then?

Contact us for tree management and for advice in best management practices for pruning trees or shrubs!

Trees do not ‘need’ to be pruned. Trees develop a well-defined and precise architecture according to their species and environment. This is an important factor in their healthy development. A good knowledge of the physiology and biology of the tree is the first condition before any intervention. The pruning of trees has no other aim than to allow trees to cohabit with human society. However, pruning may be necessary in the following cases:

  • Maintenance pruning (on a tree pollard for example),
  • Recent urbanisation close to a tree and necessary cohabitation (tree close to buildings for example),
  • Aesthetic and functional reasons in landscape design choices (topiary art, curtain-like pruning, tree pollard in historic gardens… etc),
  • Security reasons defined by a tree expert.

Else, there are different tree care
Urban Forestry, Ornamental tree

We can advise you or call on different specialists for a very specific care.

We wish to offer tree care that is natural and respectful of trees’ biology and environment.

Trees have their own survival and defense strategy against pests, pathogens or lignivorous fungi (see our various posts on this topic).
However, they may be weakened by their living conditions (drought, frost, artificial environment… etc) and require a specific nutrient intake to improve their survival reserves. Sometimes a simple mulching or the suppression of hurtful tutors can be a solution to improve their living condition!

Trees can also effectively benefit from ecological amendments, organic preparations, fermented extracts, herbal infusions (repulsive, insect repellant or stimulant preparations). We favour and can advise you on the use of preparations or organic plants grown in biodynamics.
